How to install Amy® sun protect io to get the best performance?

To reach the best performances of the sensor (accuracy and repeatability), favor wall mounting. Temperature measurement will be more consistent with temperature felt. To ensure a good temperature measurement, please follow the positioning recommendations: Avoid direct sun exposure, Move away from heat/cold sources (ideally 1m from radiator, air conditioning, wood burner, …), Move away from direct airflow (at least 25cm away of an opening), Avoid enclosed area, where the product will not be influenced by the ambient air.

How does Amy® sun protect io automation work?

Amy sun protect io measures the indoor temperature every 15 minutes. The onboard intelligence analyses the temperature evolution within the room. If the temperature increase analysis predicts future overheating discomfort, Amy sun protect io will automatically send a down order to the motorised sun protection. The closure position will depend on the sun protection type: for roller shutters or exterior blinds, the closure will be +80% compared to current position, for external venetian blinds, the slats will be all down with an angle of 45%, to keep visual comfort with natural light coming in the room. If the sun protection is closed, Amy sun protect io will never open the sun protection for safety reason.

I feel that Amy® sun protect io preset automatism threshold isn’t sticking to my sensitivity to temperature. How to adapt it?

Either the sun protection lower too early, I can handle more “heat” or too late, I need the sun protection to lower earlier. Amy sun protect io temperature threshold can be adjusted. There are 5 sensitivity levels. By default, the Amy sun protect io is set on sensitivity level 3. You can reduce it to get the sun protection lower earlier for a cooler temperature or increase it to get the sun protection lower later as you can handle more “heat”. The procedure to modify the sensitivity threshold is as follow: Long press 7s on T°/MODE button until orange LED feedback (green+red) to activate setting mode Then move to front panel and short press on UP or DOWN button to adjust the setting to the new wished treshold There are 5 different sensitivity levels that you can select using the UP and DOWN buttons based on the desired maximum target temperature that you do not want to exceed in your room. The number of flashes of the green indicator light indicates the selected level. Current selected level can be checked by pressing simultaneously on UP and DOWN shortly when setting mode is ON. Long press 7s on T°/MODE button until orange LED feedback (green+red) to go out of setting mode (or wait timeout of 10s)

How to optimise Amy® sun protect io automation?

Night cooling: During heatwaves, Amy sun protect io automation will operate even better if you can reduce your room / home temperature during the night. Amy sun protect io installed in a house equipped with air-conditioning: Amy sun protect io will allow you to delay the use of your air-conditioning as you are maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature thanks to Amy sun protect io. If you want to keep your air-conditioning as back up, use Amy sun protect io setting coherent with your air conditioning temperature activation. E.g.: Program Amy sun protect io temperature at 25°C and your air-conditioning temperature above 25°C like 26°C.

How and when deactivating Amy® sun protect io automatism?

Even if the Amy sun protect io automatism has been developed to avoid unwanted activations, it is better to deactivate Amy sun protect io automatism in winter period or whenever you don’t need it. To deactivate Amy sun protect io, it is simple: You just have to slide the toggle to the left.

Are the Zigbee motors still working if the TaHoma switch is powered Off?

The system will continue working for a while if there are Routers in the system (AC devices). Should be considered as a temporary situation.

With the TaHoma switch solution, is a remote mandatory in the Zigbee system?

No, the motors can be controlled with the TaHoma app only.

What kind of Zigbee devices can be regrouped on a individual control?

Only devices having the same cluster (e.g. Window Convering for motors) can be regrouped (bind) on a individual remote control through TaHoma switch. If you regroup a motor with slats variation with an other without slats variation, only common commands will work (Lift commands). It's not possible to bind a smart plug with a motor.

Is my customer able to modify the Zigbee motor settings?

All motor settings can be performed only using TaHoma pro app through Bluetooth Low Energy radio protocol (BLE). With TaHoma by Somfy app or the Ysia remote, only the limits can be readjusted by the customer.

Is it possible to perform the commissioning of the Zigbee system without internet connexion through Tahoma Pro app?

Yes, with TaHoma pro app, there are two modes: Online: Internet connection is mandatory / Network sharing with smartphone is possible Offline: No need to have an internet connexion

What is the maximum number of routers and devices that can be installed in a Zigbee System?

The TaHoma switch solution has been validated with 50 end devices (Max 40 Sleepy End Devices and 10 Routers). This number depends on the environment (Radio traffic) and device types (routers or Sleepy End Devices).

How can the Zigbee channel be changed in TaHoma app without deleting and restarting the entire project?

On other platforms there is an ability to change Zigbee channels "on the fly" without destroying the network and rebuilding. It is not possible today in TaHoma app. Changing the zigbee channel require for all the products to leave the network and to remove all the bindings. The only solution to change the channel is to destroy the network/stack and to rebuilt a new one.

If the Zigbee motor QR code can not be scanned, how to make the link between the APP and the motor?

If the QR code on the Zigbee motor cannot be scanned, two solutions are available to you: Motor setting (BLE): Press 5 times on motor button head to open a not secure connexion with the App. Motor pairing to the TaHoma switch: Press on the motor head button to have 2 jogs to open the Zigbee network in unsecured mode

How to remove a product from a Zigbee network?

Removing a product via the TaHoma app fully remove it from the Zigbee network. There are two different reset methods: A full motor reset: 12s on the motor head or through the TaHoma pro app erases the motor settings and the media information. The motor is removed from its current Zigbee network and is back to factory mode. A partial reset: 7s on the motor head erases only the media information. The motor is removed from its current Zigbee network and Motor settings are preserved. It would display the disconnected device on the App with exclamation point "!"

What is the Zigbee range?

The range between two Zigbee devices is European market: 40m in open field United states and Australian market: 80m in open field However, this range will vary depending on the radio environment in which the Zigbee system is installed. Many environmental factors can affect signals, including the following: Building materials such as steel and concrete Lots of other radio controled products Installation near a hospital or airport Accessibility to the motor antenna Areas with many WiFi networks in close proximity Consider that in a house, the Zigbee network just allow to go in the next room (Cross one concrete wall). With TaHoma switch solution, the range is extended with the Mesh network by adding routers.

Does the Ysia remote send commands directly to the Zigbee motor?

It will depend of the configuration of your Somfy Zigbee system. With a TaHoma switch: If wired motor (AC): the remote can send commands directly to the motor or through an other router or the switch if too far. If Wirefree motors (SED): the remotes always send a command through a router or the switch. Without TaHoma switch (TaHoma ready): The remotes always send commands directly to the motor (Wirefree or AC)

Why do I have to scan a remote control QR code to pair a Zigbee motor on TaHoma app?

TaHoma app is used for all Somfy products (iO, RTS and Zigbee). To select the right pairing path in the App, the App has to know the protocol by scanning the QR code of a remote. For iO and RTS, there is a QR code only on the remotes. If you don't have Somfy Zigbee remote, the motor QR code can be scanned (Scanned two times). For TaHoma pro, used the expert mode in order to skip this step.

Can we let the charger connected to the Zigbee Wirefree motor?

No, let the charger connected to the Zigbee Wirefree motor will reduce the motor life.

Is it possible to control a Zigbee motors with a remote in case of a power outage?

It is not possible to control a Zigbee main-powered motor when there is a AC power cut. With no main, the TaHoma switch and the Routers will not work. Only TaHoma ready solution works with Wirefree motors.

What happens with my Zigbee products if the internet is down?

If the internet is down, the Zigbee equipements (motors, smart plugs, ...) still work locally: Motors are still controlled by the remotes Motors are still controlled by programmed automatisms The motors can not be controlled with the Apps and remotely!

When Somfy Zigbee products will be compatible with Matter?

Matter specifications are still in progress. Having Zigbee and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) medias embedded is a first step to be part of the Matter adventure. Zigbee products will be part of the Matter system through a Matter bridge. Zigbee motors will not become Matter compatible through a firmware upgrade.

What Zigbee 3.0 third party products are compatible with TaHoma switch?

Any device with Zigbee 3.0 certification must be accepted in the Zigbee network as a router but is does not guarantee that this device is managed by the TaHoma App. To be compatible, the device needs to have the same Cluster (e.g. Window Convering for motors). Even with the same Cluster, the compatibility is not guarantee because of some differences in the implementation (attributes). Conditions that the Zigbee device must meet to introduce this product in our Somfy offer: Must be certified Zigbee 3.0 The Zigbee cluster must be managed by Somfy (e.g. "On/Off" cluster for Smart plug) Must be tested by Somfy It only guarantees the compatibility with the revision of the device tested. Any upgrade, modification applied on the device by the vendor could break the compatibility.

What does a TaHoma ready solution mean in the Somfy Zigbee ecosystem?

A TaHoma ready solution is a Somfy Zigbee system working without a TaHoma gateway. Only Zigbee Somfy remotes (Ysia) and motors, third party products are not TaHoma ready.

What is a router in the Zigbee ecosystem and what are its features?

Routers are responsible for routing traffic between different nodes. They are also responsible for receiving and storing messages intended to an other router or end devices. Routers may not sleep. As such, routers are not a suitable choice for battery operated devices. Example of routers: Smart plug, main-powered motor, ... A router can be connected with 6 Wirefree devices maximum (router or end device). You must respect this limitation by adding additional routers every 6 Sleepy End Devices to preserve the perfomances of the system. It is possible to have consecutive routers ("Hops") to relay signal between two Zigbee Wirefree devices. We do recommend a maximum of 6 consecutive routers.

How many remotes can be bound to a Zigbee motor and how many Zigbee motors can be paired to a remote?

Up to 6 remotes can be bound to a Zigbee motor. Recommended 3 in order to ease the group management. If you need more than 3 we do recommend to use TaHoma switch solution. A remote can control all the Zigbee motors of the room. Motors are adressed through a group number, they are all synchronized.

What is the "Holiday" scene and how to configure it in TaHoma?

Leave your home with peace of mind by setting up your absence! Thanks to this scene, your equipment will be automatically activated during your holidays to simulate your presence! Choose the dates of your vacations and link actions to this period. The steps to follow to configure it : 1. Start in the "Scenes" menu 2. Click on "Agenda". Then, choice "Plan an absence +". 3. Enter your period of absence. The times corresponding to your departure and return can also be set. 4. Define the daily comportment of your equipment using the two options available to you: Option 1: Planned actions Determine specific actions that will happen at the same time every day. Required settings: At what time? (At dawn, dusk or at specific time) Which equipment(s) and action(s)? (Open my shutters, turn off the light(s) ...) Results: At dawn+1h, the shutters will open. At 6pm, the light will turn on At 7pm, the shutter will close and the light will turn off. Option 2: Presence simulation Select your equipment and the time interval of your choice.
